Who we are: Our names are Miles and Reece Choi, and our family traveled to Morocco during our Spring break in 2023. Thanks to Mohamed, we were exposed to so many different parts of Morocco and learned so much about its people, history, customs, and geography.

Mohamed drove us from Marrakesh to Merzouga so that we could get to our camp in the Sahara Desert. This drive covered about 370 miles and almost ten hours of driving each way. We stayed overnight at the midpoint for both directions, and also stopped at several interesting points of interest along the way to explore and take photos. We realized that Mohamed slept in his car whenever we had overnight stays, so that he could be available in the morning to drive us to our next destination. And Mohamed was fasting during the day, because our trip was during Ramadan. Needless to say, Mohamed is extremely hardworking, but more importantly, he has the kindest heart and the best personality.

Why we like Mohamed so much: Mohamed is very easygoing, polite, filled with positive energy, and always has a friendly smile. He speaks excellent English, which enables him to engage in thoughtful conversation and share his wonderful sense of humor with his passengers. Our long drives were enjoyable and felt shorter, because Mohamed shared so much insight about his country, and also told us plenty of interesting and funny stories.

He drives safely at a comfortable speed at all times, keeps his car extremely clean and tidy, and is always on time. He knows all parts of Morocco very well and is able to recommend a number of great stops that tourists may not find on their own. He never makes people feel rushed, and is always welcoming of requests to stop for food, rest or even to take pictures off the side of the road.

What motivated us to create a website for him: Mohamed lives in Marrakesh with is his wife Fatiha, his son Islam, and his daughter Saja. The average wage in Morocco, including Mohamed’s, is extremely low. Mohamed’s boss pays him a flat monthly wage, and although it’s not a lot, Mohamed told us he is very grateful for his job, because he knows that there are hundreds of other people who would gladly fill his position. We created this site to help Mohamed build his own private driver/guide business. In addition, we hope that this site will help other Americans have less uncertainty about getting around Morocco—you’ll be in good hands with Mohamed!
